Maison Bernachon's story begins in Lyon, where it is considered as an iconic chocolate maker. Since 1953, when Maurice Bernachon decided to make chocolate from raw cocoa beans himslef, we pass down know-how and expertise from generation to generation.

At the creation of this great house, a man: stubborn, passionate, firm regarding his decisions and its principles. Maurice was driven by perfection.
BERNACHON' STORY FROM THE BEGINNING
JEAN-JACQUES BERNACHON AND FRANÇOISE BOCUSE'S WEDDING
Jean-Jacques Bernachon was born on October 27, 1944.
In 1966, he worked for Bensdorp in Amsterdam for six months , and later in 1968, he finds himself working Paul Bocuse's brigade. Françoise Bocuse and Jean-Jacques Bernachon's wedding was celebrated on June 19, 1969.
CREATION OF THE “PRESIDENT”
THE PRESIDENT'S STORY
The most famous Bernachon pastry, is a unique creation from Maurice Bernachon and Paul Bocuse themselves for a great occasion. Paul Bocuse was receiving the Legion of Honor from former President The “President” Valéry Giscard d'Estaing in February 1975. They decided to come to the dinner with a brand new pastry they called: The President.
The first one was for 20 people and weight 3 kg! 40 years later, this patry is still a best-seller for chocolate lovers around the world.

The restaurant is right next to the Lyon store. You can enjoy a decadent chocolate, delicious pastries, or a great lunch cooked according to the tradition of the Lyonnaise cuisine. Veal liver and fish, in particular, are a delight.

Pretty fast, Bernachon became the reference for chocolate in Lyon. Our reputation goes even above frontiers, with our name in the New York Times and collaborations with Japan, for example.

Bernachon celebrates 70 years of expertise in craftsmanship.
Founded by Maurice Bernachon in 1953, Bernachon celebrates its 70th anniversary! For this occasion, a few surprises were created to thank our loyal customers:
A unique chocolate bar was designed for the 70 years of the house, made of dark chocolate, praline, caramel and peanuts. Sold in a beautiful reusable case.
As well as a custom Bernachon tote bag, designed for our customers.
